Free Printable Writing Quotes + My Camp NaNoWriMo Goal

printable writing quotes-2

Hello my writer friends!

Today’s post is a *bit* of a big deal because I’m sharing my goal for Camp NaNoWriMo this July! Now, it’s not that the goal is big. It’s just that once I share my goal here, on the internet, on WBT, it means I’ll be held accountable to it. Even though I believe that any progress made during NaNoWriMo should be considered a success, winning just feels better. You can brag about it more.

My goal:

Work on my novel for a total of 50 hours.

And here’s why: I discovered during the last session of camp that I can write about 1,000 words in an hour. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but that’s about the average. And yet, there are quite a few things I need to do for my novel that don’t involve just sitting down to write – things like cutting out sections that don’t make sense, or rewriting sections that aren’t quite right, or working on plot, or making a timeline to make sure my story is paced properly. I talked about this a bit in my series on How To Create A Writing Schedule that Works for You, but becoming a better writer is not always about just writing.

So instead of giving myself a word-count goal that encourages quantity over quality, I’m giving myself a time goal that will hopefully focus more on quality.

And instead of taking a break from blogging for the month, I’m going to try to stick with it. I’ll be updating you on my Camp NaNoWriMo adventures here on WBT every Wednesday, so be sure to check in to see how I’m doing.

And now for the printable writing quotes!

Before I headed back to camp, I wanted to create some notes of encouragement for myself and for my writing friends. I collected nine quotes that spoke to me about what it means to be a writer, and the universal struggles and joys that come with it. And I want to share them with you!

Click here or the image below to download the set of nine, 8.5” x 11” designs, all in a classic, writerly font. Print full-sized for a poster or to keep in your writing folder/binder/notebook, or print multiple to a page for smaller, portable cards. I printed all nine writing quotes on one page and love the business-card size for using as bookmarks, keeping in my journal, or paper-clipping to my writing folder.

To all my fellow writers who are participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this July: I wish you the best, best, BEST of luck. Take it one word at a time, one day at a time, and you’ll be amazed how much you can accomplish.
