Hello friends!
Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. What’s not to love about a day where everything’s pink and everyone tells the people they love that they love them?! ALSO, it’s an excuse to get crafty. Seriously, what’s not to love?
On a recent trip to Target, I couldn’t help myself from picking up a few Dollar Spot Valentine’s Day items. I quickly fell in love with some Washi Tape and it spiraled from there.
I picked up some Chalkboard Heart Clothespins (12 for $1), three Washi Tapes ($1 each), and two sets of cards with envelopes (both $1, containing 8 cards and 8 envelopes).
Although the cards and envelopes are cute on their own, I knew I wanted to add a personal touch to make them a little more unique.
First, I made these emoji/text-lingo valentines:
All I did was cut out letters & shapes from cardstock, and then glued them down. So easy, so simple, and so cute!
Second, I wanted to make something that would be for one person, something that would hold a lot of small gifts.
I used the clothespins and a piece of twine to create a garland on my cork board (but you could hang it anywhere – it’s not too heavy). I decorated envelopes, cut the cards down the middle to create smaller gift-card-holders with the backside, and then used Washi to seal them! Voila!
All that for $6 plus some stuff I had laying around the house! Of course, if you were making valentines for a whole class or group, you’d want to buy a couple packages of cards and envelopes, but still… super affordable.
And now, a special treat for BrightMail subscribers! Over in the WBT Library, I have two Valentines Planners – one for making a lot of the same valentine (for a school class or large group), and one for making a few personal valentines. If you’re not a subscriber, click here or the image below to subscribe and get instant access to my library of free printables. Sweet! If you are already a subscriber, click here to go straight to the WBT Library and enter the top-secret passcode from your welcome email/library card.
Are you planning to make valentines this year? What’s your favorite way to celebrate the holiday?
