Hello friends!
Today’s post is all about Planner Meet-Ups and the essential items you should take with you. The first thing you have to figure out is if your meet-up will include an actual planning session. If that’s the case, then you’ll probably want to bring a few more of your favorite supplies – like stamps or stickers.
But from my experience, the planner “meet-up” is really just that – a place to meet with fellow planners and talk about new releases, show off new items, and exchange ideas and information. That being said, it’s always good to come prepared.
As you can see, all of this stuff would fit into a tote bag. I like to make sure I can carry everything on my shoulder, and have my hands free for door-prizes, holding a drink, and talking to new friends!
But let’s get right into it:
- Your planner! Duh. Whether or not you choose to open it up and share is up to you, but your planner is like your ticket into the meet-up. If there’s any question of whether you belong at the party, your planner is your proof.
- Washi Tape! The most portable and share-able of planner supplies, washi tape is a great item to bring to a meet-up. At some meet-ups, there will be a chance to sample washi – so bringing your own to share ensures that you’re a giver and not just a taker. It can also be used as make-shift name tags 🙂 I carry my washi tape in a black-and-white polka-dot cosmetic bag I purchased at DSW. Its boxy shape is spacious enough for… well… a lot of washi.
- Sticky Notes. Although you probably already have sticky notes on your at all times (No? That’s just me?), bringing a pad of sticky notes to a planner meet-up is a great idea. Sometimes, you just want to scribble down some information to share with a new friend, or remind yourself of an Etsy shop someone mentioned.
- Tools. Scissors, adhesive, and a hole-punch are must-have planner tools. If there’s a surprise DIY, you’ll be prepared to cut, glue, and punch whatever you need to.
- Pens! Bring a collection of your favorite pens to use and let others test out. I bring mine in this Ashley Mary cosmetic bag from Target.
- Paper-cutter. Now, if you’re bringing scissors, this is necessarily a necessity. But, if someone ends up doing a tutorial on dashboards, having a paper cutter to use and share if super helpful. If you have a sleek, portable one like this Fiskars one, it won’t be too much of a hassle to bring just-in-case.
- Another planner! If you have more than one planner, bring both! Bring all! The number of planners you have is kind of like patches on your Girl Scout vest. It shows commitment. At the end of the Meet-Up I go to, we always take a Planner-Stack photo where everyone stacks up their planners together. The bigger the stack, the better! It’s a fun way to document and remember the evening.
That’s it for my list of supplies, but I have to mention one more thing: $$$. It’s always nice to have a little cash on hand for donations, buying items from local sellers, or tutorial fees.
