Hello Writers!
It has been quite a while since I posted about anything writing related on the blog. And to be honest, that’s because my writing life has been pretty non-existent lately. 2017 and 2018 were very unproductive for me writing-wise. I have complete first drafts of two novels, and the process of revision has been an uphill battle (to say the least). I found myself so discouraged with revision that I would go months without so much as looking at my WIP. Recently, however, I decided enough was enough. No more waiting for revision to make sense or get easier. And what better time to whip my writing routine back into shape than NaNoWriMo?!
In the creative, community spirit of NaNoWriMo, I have created some printables for you! (Well, and for me ? ) I’m sharing a Word Count Calendar and Printable Planner Stickers, so be sure to keep reading or scroll down to get them!
And before I go any further, if you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, check out the website here! NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, a challenge that runs every November, in which writers draft 50k words in 30 days. Again, you can learn more about it on their website!
My NaNoWriMo 2018 Goal
I’m going to be a NaNo Rebel this year, friends. That just means I’m not going to draft 50k words of a new novel in 30 days. I am instead going to commit to revising 50k words of my WIP Life by the Stars. I am going to count both new words written and words from my second draft as I combine them into a third draft.
I am also going to be working on plotting a new project, working title: Girl on the Top Floor. I am not setting a goal for this, but I’m hoping that being excited about a new project will help my writing routine in some way. Who knows – I might have to put this on hold until December 1st if it starts taking away from my revision. But for now, it is a fun little side project that I have been enjoying.
The Printables!
It should come as no surprise to you that I can’t do NaNoWriMo without a solid word count tracking system. That is why I’ve created a Word Count Calendar and Printable Planner Stickers to keep on track. Here’s a look at what I’ve made and am sharing with you!
Word Count Calendar – Sunday or Monday Start
Printable Planner Stickers – Minimal (Black and White) or Colorful
Now, I’m calling these “stickers” because they can function like stickers in your planner. I simply printed mine out, trimmed around the boxes, and glued them into my planner. You can print them on sticker paper to make things easier, but paper works just fine. You could also tape the two pages together to create a tracker for your fridge, bulletin board, or wall. To make use of all the paper, I added a few extra stickers to add to your planner when you need a little extra encouragement.
Click on the titles/images below to download your printables!
One more thing before I go – be sure to check out my Instagram stories for even more NaNoWriMo content. I have two templates to share, and I’m hoping to update my progress there. I hope you will follow along and share your writing journey with me as well! I’m @haleympettit if we’re not already IG friends.
If you are participating in NaNoWriMo this November, please let me know in the comments! I’d love to connect with you and support each other. I wish you the best of luck!
