I’m Going Back To Camp NaNoWriMo!

You read that right – I’m going back to Camp NaNoWriMo in July! Although the first session of Camp was a little rough for me (you can read about that here), I am excited to try, try again. I still haven’t completely figured out my goal for the month, but I’m working on it.

If you’re planning to go to Camp NaNoWriMo too, be sure to check out my Packing Lists that walk you through five phases of preparation to get you ready to write.

But maybe you’ve already read my posts, and you’re wondering where else I turn to for writing inspiration, information, and community. Below, I’ve listed five of my favorite writing blogs & bloggers who are active on the web right now. I hope you’ll be as inspired by them as I am 🙂

My Five Favorite Writing Blogs

  1. EA Deverell – Can we just collectively agree that writing worksheets are the best? Because when you’re struggling with your story, it can be hard to figure out where to even begin to fix it. Eva Deverell has created an INCREDIBLE library of worksheets for writers that are 100% free and 100% helpful. Seriously, if you’re having trouble with plot, or character, or even the motivation to write, she has a worksheet for that.
  2. Hint of Jam – I have been so lucky to befriend Jamae – the creative behind Hint of Jam – IRL. As a fellow multi-passionate, Jamae gets that writing is not a simple, isolated activity, but rather, one of the many ways to exercise your creativity and the story within you. If you’re looking for inspiration and to connect with your creativity in new and different ways, be sure to check out her blog and services.
  3. Blots & Plots – Jenny’s blog is one of the most well-rounded writing blogs I have come across. From the beginning stages of getting to know your idea, to marketing your books, to discussions on and about the writer’s life, Jenny’s blog will make you feel like your writing struggles are normal, understood, and completely manageable. Be sure to sign up for her mailing list and look into her FB group too – it’s a fun place to connect with other writers in a way that’s sometimes serious, sometimes silly.
  4. She’s Novel – There’s a reason my Pinterest Writing Board is full of pins from She’s Novel! Kristen Kieffer’s blog posts tackle specific elements of writing with such detail that when you finish reading, you feel encouraged and inspired to get back to your own writing. I always feel like I’ve learned something new to apply to my writing when I take the time to read her blog posts. Also check out her Youtube Channel where she’s shared video information-bombs about story structure and her personal reading list.
  5. Rachel Giesel – Although I am a fairly new reader to Rachel’s blog, I am already impressed with her content and wish I had discovered her posts earlier! I’m currently working through her Real Good Writer’s DNA Workbook and am loving it. Writing is such a personal activity, and Rachel really understands how to work with your personality to bring out your best writing. It’s like therapy for writers!

Do you have a writing blog? Or what are your favorite writing blogs out there? Let me know in the comments!
