Hello friend!
Today, I wanted to share with you another way I have used the Studio Calico April 2017 Planner Kit – called Written In The Stars. In my last Plan With Me, I used this kit in my personal sized planner. This time, I decided to use it in my A5 or medium sized planner. Working with a different sized insert makes you think about the products in a new way – the scale, layout, and proportions are all different.
One of the things that makes Studio Calico’s Planner Kit special is that it can be used in a variety of planners and notebooks. With enough supplies for at least six projects in a kit, it’s fun to try out the supplies in new and exciting ways.
The Plan With Me!
Here are some up-close photos so you can see all the details!
I love how the starburst washi separates the page horizontally. It makes each section a little easier to work with, and it guides the eye right to the important events (on top) and lists (on the bottom).
I’ve never been afraid to mix pattern, so this kit really inspired me to layer the patterned washi, paper, and stickers! The light, neutral background of each pattern helps the page from looking too busy.
Can a planner page have too many stars?! Nope. This little cluster of stars added the perfect amount of color and geometric pop to the light purple ticket.
More stars! I also love the way this little cluster of stars, paper, emoji sticker, and stamps turned out. Between the cut out ticket, cardstock-sticker stars, and the puffy smiley face, there’s a lot of added dimension.
And finally, these typewriter titles are a fun graphic element without being out of proportion. I love mixing my own handwriting with printed or stamped lettering – it creates subtle contrast for an interesting look.

As it is now a full week after I filmed this, I want to give you a little update on how this format worked for me the past week. If you’re like me, you need the structure of a to-do list, but you don’t necessarily want to feel like you have to do certain tasks on certain days. This format – with categorized, but unscheduled tasks – really helped me to stay on top of what needed to get done, while still feeling free to choose what I wanted to work on and when. I highly encourage you to try it out, if only for a week, to see if this system might work for you too!
And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this Plan With Me, and maybe even learned a new technique or two to try in your own planner.
