I’m so excited to announce that I was nominated for the Newbie Blogger Liebster Award! The lovely Sarah at The Accidental Artist nominated me – her beautiful blog is all about ballet, art, and the carefree lifestyle. I’m always in awe of the grace & strength of ballerinas, and Sarah’s blog shares conditioning exercises and inspiration so everyone can feel like one!
If you don’t know what the Liebster Award is, it’s an award given to new bloggers, usually for those who have less than 200 followers, by other bloggers as a way to support each other in our journey to grow and build our blogs.
What are the rules?
- Post you Liebster Award to your blog.
- Answer the questions you were given by the person who nominated you.
- Nominate a small group of other new bloggers you’ve discovered.
- Create ten new questions for the nominees.
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their blog.
Here are my answers!
Why did you start your blog?
I started my blog because I love reading blogs, and I love writing! I took a few months off between graduating and finding a job, and my blog became a place for me to be creative and to find organization in the chaos that is post-grad life.
Who are some of your favorite bloggers and why?
I love A Girl, Obsessed, A Beautiful Mess, Career Girl Daily, The Beauty Department, Design*Sponge, iHeart Organizing, and gh0stparties. I love blogs that are bright and inspirational – whether it’s a new makeup look, a fun interior tour, or a DIY project.
What are your short-term and long-term goals for your blog?
Right now, I’m just trying to keep on a posting routine and gain more followers! Long-term, I’d love my blog to be a positive, inspiring place for like-minds. I’d also love to publish a book of some kind.
What is your ideal morning routine?
Coffee. A magazine. Breakfast. A workout. A bath. Hair, makeup, getting dressed. And then my day would officially start 🙂
How do you incorporate blogging in your schedule?
It looks a little different week to week, but I try to put aside a few hours every week for working on blogging & social media. Once I have a post planned, the only thing I really have to schedule is photography. My house doesn’t get the best natural light, so I have to make sure I’m taking advantage of the mornings when it’s bright & I have time to photograph. Otherwise, I’ll just sneak in some writing, photo-editing, or social media sharing throughout the day.
What’s your favorite city and why?
My hometown Portland Oregon! We have Powell’s City of Books, beautiful parks, old houses, great restaurants, decent shopping, fun concerts & shows, and delicious tap water. It might not seem that great but… I’m a simple girl! And I like my city. (Well, minus the parking/traffic/rent situation. But I’m pretty good at avoiding all that!)
What’s the easiest and hardest part about blogging for you?
The easiest part is writing – I think because by the time I’m writing a post, I’ve already put in a lot of prep. I also enjoy writing (I did minor in it after all!), so it’s definitely one of the easier parts. The hardest part is photography. I’m very much a perfectionist and very much an amateur photographer using her iPhone to take pics. Those two things do not always work together, and I’m often unhappy with the way my pictures turn out.
What is your favorite leisure activity to do?
Read! I love to read books, magazines, and blogs. I also love to write, but I’m not sure I’d always call that a “leisure activity”!
What motivates you to continue blogging?
The blogging community is so encouraging, and I love the process of creating something to share 3x a week. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier to just quit, but it feels good to have my own little space on the world wide web.
Relationship status? Any kids (2 or 4 legged)?
I’m in a serious relationship… with my blog! But I do have a precious 4-legged pal, Scruffy. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen pictures of him!
All of these ladies have amazing blogs – and each is so different so be sure to check them all out!
Here are my ten questions:
- Why did you start your blog?
- Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
- What’s your favorite part about blogging?
- If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
- What are your blogging goals?
- What’s your favorite book?
- What are your favorite blogs, and why?
- What’s your favorite leisure activity?
- What does your blogging process look like?
- What’s your favorite holiday, and why do you like it?
Thanks so much to everyone who read this lengthy post! It’s fun to take a little time to reflect and support other bloggers at the same time. And thanks again to Sarah for the nomination!
