8 Things I Am Thankful For

8 Things I Am Thankful For

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to take some time to talk about 8 Things I’m Thankful For. Some are serious, some are silly, but they’re all a bright part of my life in one way or another.

  1. My family. I am frequently reminded of just how blessed I am by my family, but it is a little more present during the holidays. From my mom – who is basically Mary Poppins – to my dad – who is always there for me when I need him – to my sister – who understands me like no one else – to my brother – who is the kindest and sweetest little brother, like, ever – to my grandparents – who teach me so much and are always my biggest cheerleaders – to my aunts, uncles, and cousins – who are my favorite people to laugh with, celebrate with, and talk about the silly little things with. I am truly thankful that I was blessed with such a supportive, kind, and hilarious family. For all of you reading, I love you!
  2. Christmas movies. If you’re wondering what my favorites are, don’t worry – just check back in December 🙂 My list may or may not be longer than the ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas Schedule.
  3. Christmas music. Again, expect to see some of my favorites pop up in a December post!
  4. My job. A year ago, I had no idea what I would be doing after graduation. The thought of getting a job made me incredibly anxious, and trying to figure out a “career path” was completely overwhelming. Four months ago, I started an internship that led to the job I have now, and I could not be more thankful for the way it worked out. I’ve learned so much, met so many amazing people, and I love the work that I get to do. I really lucked out!
  5. Homemade Chex Mix. It’s baking in the oven while I write this, so it only seems right to give it a shout-out.
  6. NaNoWriMo. As much as it’s kicking my butt right now, I’m thankful that NaNoWriMo provides a schedule, a goal, a community, and motivation for writers like myself who would probably never finish a draft without it.
  7. All the basic things I take for granted – like a home, food, water, my health & safety, and other necessities. It’s so easy to get caught up in my own little world, but I truly am thankful for each of these things.
  8. Jesus. As we head into the Christmas season, it’s so easy to get caught up in the sparkling lights, presents, egg nog and cheesy Lifetime Movies. And while I love all those things – and think they’re part of what makes the season so magical – I want to always remember that the birth of Jesus is the reason for it all! I’m so thankful for everything Jesus did, everything he is doing, and everything he will do, for me and for everyone.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving celebrating with loved ones. I’m also thankful for each and every one of you reading this – it means a lot to me that you do.

XOXO
